When terrorists blow up a popular tourist café in Marrakech, a CIA handler hires one of the storytellers on the plaza as an informant. Baghurr and his wife use the money to smuggle counterfeit Marlboros across the desert from Algeria . . . with disastrous results.
Then when al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb also puts him on the payroll, he winds up shepherding two-thousand pounds of CIA-provided plastic explosive through the Lawless Quarter to the terrorists.
Along the way, the handler reveals that he’s more than just a corrupt intelligence officer. He’s working for the same Chinese spymaster who arranged the embassy bombings in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.
